Quantity Surveyor
Role Description:
- Based in the Carlisle head office, the QS will be responsible to the Commercial Manager to carry out various support duties for both live and prospective projects.
- Whilst being based in Carlisle, site visits / working may be required, for which mileage will be paid.
- Specific duties will be agreed with the Commercial Manager but will include:
o Carry out take offs for material and subcontractor procurement
o Assisting in Sub-contract negotiation and letting
o Site measurement including material and waste records
o Manage and value variations
o Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
o Preparation and issue of contractual letters to clients and / or sub-contractors with oversight of Commercial Manager
o Preparation and submission of interim valuations
o Agreement and certification of sub-contractors interim valuations and final accounts
o Preparation and submission of final accounts
o Value management and cost control
o Providing advice on contractual claims
o Analysing outcomes and writing detailed reports
o Valuing completed work and arranging payments
o Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations
The Quantity Surveyor will also hold a recognised qualification within Quantity Surveying and be keen to secure a role within a dynamic forward thinking business. Site Based Quantity Surveyor
Role Description
Duration – Autumn 2017 until early 2019
- Engagement – Fixed Term Contract
- Location – near Cockermouth
- Indicative Working Hours – 8am to 6pm
- Works being undertaken – Design & Build Project comprising 10,000m 2 industrial / office unit.
- Minimum Qualifications – BSc Quantity Surveying or equivalent. Must have experience of carrying out QS duties (especially for major earthworks) for a contractor in a site environment.
- Reporting to – Commercial Manager.
- Roles and Responsibilities
- Attend Pre-start Meetings focused on scope, cost, contract terms, and delivery of services/product in specific timescales, insurance cover and CIS details.
- Attend regular Subcontractor Progress Meetings with Project Manager as required.
- Attend monthly Contract Review Meeting with the rest of the Management Team.
- Monitoring – The site QS has a key role in gathering information and evidence from site activities both progress and cost. The site duties will be agreed with the Commercial Manager but can include:
